Being a surgeon allows me to combine the human side of medicine with my desire to solve complex problems in a hands-on way. I feel deeply fulfilled helping patients improve their quality of life-whether through weight-loss surgery, repairing a bothersome hernia, easing acid reflux, or relieving the pain of gallbladder disease. Advances in minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy and robotics now let us perform major operations more safely, with smaller incisions and faster recovery. I also know that surgery is not just a medical event-it's a life event that affects patients and their families. I strive to create a supportive environment where everyone feels informed, comfortable, and cared for. I am grateful to work alongside an exceptional multidisciplinary team here at Duke Health, and I am proud to offer patients and their loved ones the best possible care throughout their surgical journey.
