Andrea Linares Lopez, DO, MMS

I care for patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and other neuroimmunologic conditions, including neurosarcoidosis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD), autoimmune encephalitis and other disorders that cause inflammation of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. I chose neuroimmunology because I enjoy caring for patients with complex conditions while building long-term relationships with them. I believe the best care comes from listening closely to my patients, understanding what matters most to them and working together to create a treatment plan that fits their individual goals and lives. I strive to make complex medical information understandable so my patients feel confident and involved in their care. I also care for patients through Duke's joint Neuro-Rheumatology Clinic, where I work with rheumatology colleagues to evaluate and treat patients whose neurologic and autoimmune conditions overlap. Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our daughter, exploring all that North Carolina has to offer, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
