REALISE - Clinical Trial
What is the Purpose of this Study?
This study lasts for about one and a half months. People will go to the doctor up to six times in person and have one phone call visit. The first visit will take about four and a half hours and will include a brain scan and tests to see how well someone can do certain tasks. This long visit can be split into two shorter visits if that is easier. After that, there will be three visits where people get a special kind of treatment, and each of those visits will take about an hour and a half.
Accidente cerebrovascular
Who Can Participate in the Study?
This study is for people who are at least 21 years old. They must have had their first stroke at least three months ago. The stroke could have been caused by a blocked blood vessel or bleeding in the brain. They must have weakness in one arm. Doctors will also check how the muscles in their hand respond to signals to see if they can be part of the study.
What is Involved?
The purpose of this study is to see how a treatment called TMS can help people move their arms better. TMS stands for transcranial magnetic stimulation. It uses magnets to help the brain work in a different way. TMS is already approved to help people with depression, and doctors have also looked at how it helps people after a stroke. But scientists still need to learn the best way to use it to help people recover.
