LBNP/LBPP (Study of How Air Pressure Changes Exercise Performance) - Clinical Trial

What is the Purpose of this Study?

We are doing this study to find out how changes in air pressure can affect people's exercise capacity. We want to compare how these pressure changes affect the abilities of healthy volunteers and compare their changes to those of people who are diagnosed with HFpEF (heart failure with a preserved ejection fraction, a congestive heart disease).

What is the Condition Being Studied?

The Effect of Air Pressure on Exercise Capacity

Who Can Participate in the Study?

Adults ages 30+ who:

  • Are in general good health (no heart, lung, or neurological conditions)
  • Are able to pedal a stationary bike

What is Involved?

If you choose to join the study, you will come to our clinic for 1 visit that lasts about 3 hours.

Durante esta visita, usted:

  • Answer some questionnaires
  • Hacer extracciones de sangre y dar muestras de orina
  • Have a small amount of radioactive medication administered to you
  • Wear several noninvasive measurement devices
  • Exercise on a stationary bicycle while exposed to different air pressures

We will pay study participants for their time.
